Jesus said in Mark 7 that evil comes from the human heart. It's always possible to see the light and hate it, possible to know something is evil and end up doing it anyway like Paul said in Romans 7, possible to have the full mercy of heaven and be unmerciful to yourself and others, and possible to be a blessed sheep and still yield to the judgmental score-keeping goat that lives in the corner of all our hearts.

Sin is and unfortunate part of the human condition that blinds us to grace and makes us hell-bent on earning our way with religious performance. It's a disease that either leads us to judge ourselves as hopelessly unworthy of the grace we already have, or to judge others as unworthy of the grace we're sure they don't have or deserve.

Did I hear your question correctly? ---Bertbertgaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06609030623500152116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3541424098637282033.post-79754449669635949432010-11-25T21:58:54.982-05:002010-11-25T21:58:54.982-05:00Bert, once again, great article!

Instead I use "person."

So do I believe in personal soteriological inclusivism, or just plain old soteriological inclusivism? I have no choice as a biblical theologian. Jesus saved the world. He reconciled all things to his Father. It's in the Bible.

To read about finished salvation in the Bible, check out You're Saved parts 1 and 2:

http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=84945367&blogId=453045885

http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=84945367&blogId=452996362

Please tell your friends that I'm a conservative, especially when it comes to the Bible. I would never take the liberty of literalizing a parable about talking sheep and goats. Those who literalize this barnyard parable with talking animals will have to defend their wildly liberal twisting of Scripture, not me. ;)bertgaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06609030623500152116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3541424098637282033.post-44198981421108493242010-04-26T10:19:11.580-04:002010-04-26T10:19:11.580-04:00Hi Bert, sorry for my last comment - I was in a bi...Hi Bert, sorry for my last comment - I was in a bit of rush. What I meant was are you support the idea of 'individual soteriological inclusivism' which CS Lewis understood from the parable of sheep and goat? Lewis depicted this in his Narnia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emeth)

I was blessed with your article - I discussed it with couple of people and some think that you are too liberal. I take it that something in my blog sounds to you like a rejection of faith alone and grace alone. That wasn't my intent. So, in order to reply, I need to know what in my blog specifically gave you that impression. ---Bertbertgaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06609030623500152116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3541424098637282033.post-34032055558974812782010-04-23T06:05:05.034-04:002010-04-23T06:05:05.034-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03177504102113684471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3541424098637282033.post-23092441259448046672009-12-21T22:52:05.218-05:002009-12-21T22:52:05.218-05:00Thanks Bert, your article is very helpful in remov...Thanks Bert, your article is very helpful in removing my dualistic glasses! :-)Michael J.
